FAQs

Read through a few of our more frequently asked questions or give us a ring on 01675 465462.

What are box gutters?

Box gutters are rectangular gutters which are used to deal with drainage between two roofs, like that of the original home and the extension. Any water collected in the box gutter is then diverted to the gutter outlet and downpipe.

How is box guttering different from normal guttering?

Most guttering sits along the roof’s eaves, while box guttering is placed between two roof systems, as in that of the original home and that of the new extension or orangery. It’s called ‘boxed guttering’ because it’s boxed in on all sides.

This helps to mitigate the effects of water between the two structures. You may have seen it when working with reverse lean-tos. We highly recommend using it when either of the roof systems are a significant grade.

Do you have any tips for installing box gutters?

When installing, don’t push fit the stop end onto the guttering. Use a silicone stay for ease of fitting, and then roll the stop end, and clip on.

You want to double check the length, measuring from the back wall to the insertion depth on the union joint. When installing the guttering, roll it in, and then push fit until you hear it click.

What are the sizes for box gutters available?

We offer 165mm standard and 265mm standard, and we can also offer custom designs, that way they suit your build to perfection.

Are box gutters watertight?

Yes! Injection moulded adapters are used to ensure seamless and watertight jointing between the classic uPVC gutter and the aluminium box gutter.

You’ll be able to find each adapter comes with its own dry jointing gasket and a measured ‘shot’ of Gutterbond sealant to help you with a quick fit.

Where else do you deliver?

We deliver nationwide, as well as to local areas like Stoke-on-Trent, Worcester, Leicester, Nottingham, Oxford and Gloucester.
